Wild About Inclusion
“Wild About Inclusion” is a one-of-a-kind design and is both disability inclusive and medically inclusive. The intention behind this design is representation, normalization, kindness, and inclusion. I hope it sparks conversation with children about inclusion and differences while also being meaningful to those who see themselves in the animals illustrated. Among these nine friendly animals, you will find more than 15 elements intended for medical and disability inclusion. This design reflects the intersection of my background as a child life specialist, my experience as a mother to a child with medical and disability needs, and the feedback and insight I’ve gained from interdisciplinary health and therapy professionals. Each inclusive element is intentionally illustrated to be meaningful for those who know what they are and a soft introduction for those who do not.
